A-1 Self Storage Charity Partner: Arthritis Foundation
We are a proud supporter of the Arthritis Foundation, a foundation fighting to find a cure for America’s #1 cause of disability. For 70 years, this incredible team has fought against arthritis with innovation in science, new and adapting resources, and communities advocating for a cure. The foundation helps those who suffer from arthritis with everyday tasks that are near impossible to accomplish by proving them with helpful resources and access to the best care.
Each year, the foundation hosts Jingle Bell Runs across the nation to raise funds and awareness for a disease that affects so many individuals in our country. Donations to the foundation serve to promote new fellowships for aspiring rheumatologists, lend a voice to advocate for high treatment costs and medications, fund new research, provide children who are diagnosed and their families with resources and education, and provide educational resources online to help those who battle the disease discover new opportunities.
We spoke with Christopher, Development Director, at the Arthritis Foundation and asked a few questions about his involvement in the foundation and the Jingle Bell Run.
We learned that Christopher has been involved with the Arthritis Foundation since he was first hired three and a half years ago. This year he completed his 4th Jingle Bell Run and the company's 27th! When asked how he's benefited from the Arthritis Foundation, Christopher replied "Being able to see the great work that's being done for the foundation firsthand. Many people think that Arthritis is just an old person disease, but there are over 300,000 children living with Juvenile Arthritis. Of those 6,000 live locally here in San Diego. The foundation is able to provide great services for those children as well as adults living with Arthritis."
The annual Jingle Bell Run held at Liberty Station in San Diego and was a huge success! We are honored to have sponsored the holiday run that united our community during the holidays and raise money and awareness for an amazing cause. This year more than $90,000 was raised to support, educate, and advocate for our community. Our sincerest thanks and gratitude goes out to all who attended and donated. We are so grateful to have the opportunity to support an inspiring organization that says “YES to living life to the fullest.”
